Older Australians and the Internet

The internet has revolutionised the way that we communicate, exchange information and socialise. The younger generations have never known life without computers or the internet. Once people relied on older generations to educate and teach the ways of the world. Today Generation X, Y and Z are forging ahead with the technology revolution and using their knowledge to teach their parents and grandparents the new revolution of instant communication.

This technology has seen a unique bond form between the two generations, where the exchange of information flows in both directions. The demonstration of video calling overseas grandchildren without the expense of a traditional phone call, following them on Facebook or just looking up forgotton song lyrics from your favourite Doris Day tune has seen an huge up take in the number of older Australians utilising this magnificent tool.

As the internet grows so does the number of unsavoury people looking to exploit users. You can protect yourself by learning how the scammers work and how not to fall victim to their scams.
